World Wide Wrap at Beth Jacob

On Sunday morning, Feb. 3, the local "World Wide Wrap" was held at Beth Jacob Synagogue in Norwich.
"Word Wide Wrap" is an international program sponsored by the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs to promote knowledge and observance of the mitzvah of tefillin.
Sixth and seventh grade students from Bet Sefer -- the joint religious school of Beth Jacob and Beth El, teens from Norwich/New London USY, and adults from both synagogues gathered for the program. Several of the Bet Sefer students put on tefillin for the first time and then participated in morning services. Many of them were joined by their parents who watched or helped their children learn the proper way of putting on tefillin.
After services, all the participants joined for a lovely breakfast complete with HaMotzi before and Birkat HaMazon after. Following breakfast, USYers Bill Bokoff, Jared Gorin and Benji Miller discussed their experiences on USY summer programs and introduced the students to USY and Kadima. Following this, the students and others watched an award-winning video, "The Ties that Bind," which explored the spiritual power of the mitzvah of tefillin for both men and women.
